M&G Investments Namibia: Connecting pioneers of our future

At M&G Investments Namibia, our mission is to provide our clients with the confidence to invest and create long-term wealth. But beyond financial success, we care deeply about the broader economic and social ecosystems in which we operate. Our investment approach goes hand-in-hand with our sense of corporate responsibility, reflecting our dedication to the country’s development and future.

As part of our broader corporate citizenship commitment, we focused on tackling two major issues in Namibia: the quality of education and the high unemployment rate. These challenges are not only pressing, but they also present an opportunity for innovation and sustainable growth.

Investing in education and unemployment solutions

To improve the quality of education in Namibia, we have built strategic partnerships with local institutions, including Izak Buys High School, a rural school in the Omaheke Region, and the University of Namibia Foundation. These collaborations aim to provide students with better educational resources and support, ensuring that future generations are equipped for success.

In addition to education, we are committed to helping to address Namibia's unemployment crisis. By fostering the growth of scalable businesses, we are contributing to the creation of jobs and the deepening of capital markets in the country. One of the ways we are making an impact in this area is through supporting innovative start-ups and ventures that have the potential to scale and transform sectors of the economy.

The role of technology in shaping the future

At our recently held year-end event, we had the privilege of showcasing some of the most promising local talent.

A standout young entrepreneur identified by M&G Investments at the 3rd AU MSME Conference is Vitalis Haupindi. He is the founder of Yyeni AI, an innovative EdTech platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the learning experience, particularly for learners. The platform, which is named "Yyeni" meaning “Your AI” in Oshiwambo, represents the type of forward-thinking solutions that can transform Namibia’s educational landscape. We connected Vitalis, with Wesley Lynch, founder of Snapplify, which specialises in enabling digital learning for individuals and institutions via the largest digital educational marketplace in Africa.

By connecting these two visionary leaders, we helping to nurture collaborations that will not only improve education but also fuel the growth of scalable tech-based businesses in Namibia.

Both Vitalis and Wesley were keynote speakers at the M&G Investments Namibia year-end celebration client event, where they shared their journeys as EdTech pioneers. Their inspiring talks underscored the importance of innovation, collaboration, and resilience in shaping the future of education in Namibia and beyond.

    Looking to the future

As we close out 2024, we remain optimistic about the potential of the Namibian economy and its ability to overcome challenges through strategic investment and innovation. The partnerships we have built, the businesses we support, and the solutions we champion all align with our commitment to creating a more prosperous, sustainable future.

We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we are eager to help shape it. With our ongoing commitment to fostering growth, education, and job creation, we are proud to play a role in the evolution of Namibia’s economy and society. We are confident that the work we are doing today will have a lasting impact on the quality of education, and the creation of scalable businesses.

We invite all our investors, partners, and stakeholders to join us on this exciting journey into 2025 and beyond.
