Meet the team

Marcello Arona is a seasoned executive in the asset management industry and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of M&G Investments since January 13, 2025. In this role, he oversees global financial operations and implements financial strategies to support the company’s long-term growth objectives. He is a member of the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board of Directors serving as a Non-Executive Director since November 2025.

Before joining M&G, Marcello built a distinguished career at AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM). He joined AXA IM in 2005 as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AXA IM Italy. In 2013, he moved to the United States to become the Regional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of AXA IM Americas. In 2017, he was appointed Head of AXA IM Americas. In April 2021, he became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AXA IM UK and AXA IM GS, positions he held until his transitions to M&G in 2025. Marcello also served as a member Director of the Board of the UK Investment Association for two years. 

Prior to joining AXA IM, Marcello worked in the private banking division of HSBC in Italy, where he served as CFO and COO. He began his professional career as a Senior Auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), focusing on financial intermediaries. 

Marcello graduated cum laude in Economics from the University of Pavia in Italy.
